- First Angle Projection - Continued
The following slideshow shows how, when looking at a 3d
object, how a "Plan View" and a "Front Elevation" can be made in 2d.
This is done by projecting out lines and points Perpendicularly onto an
Imaginary Vertical and Horizontal Planes. These imaginary planes are then
folded out flat, and represent a completed Orthographic Drawing on a drawing
sheet.
Moving on now, we will see exactly where the view in the above slideshow comes from.
Below is a Picture showing all the different Planes and Angles used in Orthographic Projection. There are Four Angles in Orthographic Projection, however only the First Angle (as shown above in the movie) and the Third Angle views are used. An object is placed in one of these quadrants and the views are projected onto the Vertical and Horizontal Imaginary planes just as in the movie above.
This Method of First Angle Projection is Mainly used in Europe and is the method we mostly use in our Drawings here in Ireland.
We will now take a look at Third Angle Projection.
